Sadly police can confirm a person has died in a fire at Tarleton this afternoon.
Police and emergency services were called to a fire on Henslowe Street just before 3.45pm.
On arrival Tasmania Fire Service crews located a vegetation fire.
Sadly a body was located near the fire.
A formal identification has yet to be conducted but it is believed to be a 77-year-old man who lived at the residence.
The fire has since been contained.
A fire scene examination will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
A formal identification of the deceased will be conducted and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
