Australia and Indonesia are co-hosting this year's Clean Energy Ministerial Senior Officials' Meeting and Mission Innovation Annual Gathering in Bali, Indonesia from 15-17 May.
The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and Mission Innovation (MI) are international forums that bring together governments, companies, international experts and leading bodies from around the world to collectively accelerate clean energy transitions. The CEM and MI are platforms where members come together to help shape the global clean energy agenda. The forums advance the deployment of specific clean energy technologies and solutions.
Australia, through government agencies, research institutions and the private sector, leads and actively participates in many CEM and MI initiatives. This includes initiatives focused on:
- power sector transformation
- industry decarbonisation
- hydrogen
- energy efficiency
- equality in energy transitions.
The CEM Senior Officials' Meeting and MI Annual Gathering is an important moment for members of these communities to come together to take stock of their work, assess progress, and ensure that we are on the path to net zero and to meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. This event plays a pivotal role in preparing for the annual CEM and MI Ministerial Meeting, which will be held later this year in Brazil alongside the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting.
As co-host with Indonesia, Australia aims to use this event to demonstrate our shared clean energy ambitions. Regional cooperation and international partnerships are vital to address pressing energy transition challenges.
