The University of Western Australia has a continual roll call of awards, scholarships and prizes presented to staff and students.

Name: Michael Salvatore Grebla
Achievement: Bachelor of Music and Engineering graduate Michael Grebla won the 2024 Spectrum Chamber Music Society's Composition Award for his piano trio.
His composition Piano Trio No. 1: In Search of Peace was awarded first prize in the competition in which composers from all over the world competed.

Mr Grebla is a Matilda Award recipient and John Monash Scholar who now lives in New York.
"It brought me joy and hope, each day, sitting in my little East Harlem apartment creating this piece of music for friends back home despite the rapid, ever changing realities and circumstances of the time,"he said.
Name: Neil Robinson
Achievement: Forrest Fellow Dr Neil Robinson, from UWA's School of Engineering, has been awarded the 2023 Future of Materials Chemistry Award by the Royal Australia Chemical Institute.
Dr Robinson is focused on the design, synthesis, characterisation and application of novel spin conversion materials for applications in hydrogen liquefaction and beyond.

The award is given to a young materials chemist who has made a significant achievement and is selected from delegates at Materials Chemistry Division meetings.
Name: Rachel Morris
Achievement: Administration Officer Rachel Morris has been recognised with the 2023 WA Centre for Rural Health and Rural Health West Staff Award. Rachel has shown a positive solutions-based approach across many areas of WACRH's organisation processes and systems.
She relocated to Carnarvon for several weeks in 2023 to maintain a presence in Bundillgoo Mia Training Centre, while continuing her Geraldton job, and developed administration systems for the Carnarvon Aged Care Training Program.

Rachel is a key member of the Student Health Academy steering group and provided a strong organisational foundation for the program as well as contributing to its curriculum.
Name: Shawn Raphael Tan
Achievement: Shawn Raphael Tan, from UWA's School of Population and Global Health, has received an Associate Fellowship in Advance Higher Education.
Mr Tan is an early-stage researcher investigating the mental health needs of international students in Australian universities.

The Fellowship recognises professional practice in higher education teaching and learning support, particularly in the fields of psychology and public health.
The PhD scholar is working collaboratively across disciplines of psychology, public health, education, and medicine to modify specific risk and protective factors of mental health.
