Bexley Oval Lights Up With $250,000 Upgrade: Bayside

The use of Bexley Oval by local sporting clubs can now extend into the evening thanks to six new floodlight towers that were installed by Bayside Council, supported by a $250,000 grant from the Federal Government.

Bayside Mayor Bill Saravinovski and Federal Member for Barton Linda Burney attended the official 'switching on' of the lights on 4 April.

Funded under the Federal Government's 'Investing In Our Communities' program, the six new lighting towers are a huge win for local sports stars.

The enhanced lighting boosts the health and safety of players as well as that of the wider local community.

The Hurstville United Junior Rugby Football Club and other local sports clubs have welcomed the infrastructure as teams can now train after dark on the entire oval as a new winter season kicks off.

In 2023, Bexley Oval was named as recipient of the Prestigious Ground of the Year Award in the Sydney Shires Cricket Competition. Bexley Oval has the capacity to host cricket, rugby and football matches.
