Following the NSW Government's easing of restrictions, Liverpool City Library and Carnes Hill Library will launch a free click and collect service from Tuesday 21 September 2021 after popular demand from the community. The service will extend to all locations and normal hours from Tuesday 5 October.
Liverpool City Council Mayor Wendy Waller said there has already been significant community uptake for the service, with almost 2000 requested items awaiting collection at libraries already.
"Council is pleased to be able to offer a revised version of much-loved library services at a time when physically browsing the shelves is not possible," Mayor Waller said.
"For many people, borrowing and reading a book is a way of taking care of their mental health, whether it is a way of learning or simply immersing themselves in a fictional story.
"People will now be able to click and collect resources ranging from books to magazines, and Council have adopted the recommended COVID-19 safe procedures to ensure the process is not only accessible and convenient, but most importantly safe.
"I encourage all residents to follow the current NSW Public Health Orders when they are collecting their items, including checking in to the Library using the QR code, wearing a mask and maintain social distancing rules for the safety of the public and staff members."
Council will also resume Library Home Service for those who are unable to visit the library because of age or disability. Library staff can help select items for reading or listening and will deliver and collect library items.
The new COVID-19 Safe click and collect process is:
- Library members can reserve up to 10 items for three weeks through the catalogue or the Library app
- Members will receive an email or SMS notification letting them know that the items are ready to be picked up
- Members can book a time to pick up items via the Library app, website or by calling the library
- Members must bring their library card to the chosen location and time slot to pick up the items
Liverpool City Library will be open from 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday, 9.30am - 3.30pm Saturdays.
Carnes Hill Library is open from 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
