Community Satisfaction Soars

Wyndham residents are a satisfied bunch, with Council receiving the tick of approval from residents in the 2023/24 Annual Community Satisfaction Survey.

Satisfaction with Wyndham City Council's overall performance has increased significantly over the past 12 months, up eight per cent on last year to record a score of 7.1 out of 10 (up from 6.6 last year).

This positions Wyndham City as the highest ranked among Councils in the western region and growth areas across Victoria for overall satisfaction, and one of the highest in metropolitan Melbourne.

The Annual Community Satisfaction Survey is one of the main ways Council tracks its performance and is designed to measure community satisfaction across a range of Council services and functions.

The survey recorded significant increases in satisfaction in the delivery of maintenance and repairing local roads (up 18 per cent), traffic management (up 10 per cent), sleep/settling programs (up 16 per cent), dealing with dumped rubbish (up 13 per cent) and the provision and maintenance of public toilets (up 13 per cent).

Wyndham also ranked the highest among surrounding Councils for maintaining community trust and confidence; community consultation and engagement; and representation, lobbying and advocacy.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Jennie Barrera, said she was thrilled with this year's survey results.

"When Wyndham City adopted our Wyndham 2040 Community Vision at the start of this Council term, our community told us what was important and the results from this year's Annual Community Satisfaction Survey demonstrate that we've listened and we've delivered," Cr Barrera said.

"This reflects Wyndham City's focus on getting the important things right - including service delivery, governance and leadership, and providing our residents with the facilities they need, close to home."

"The community's satisfaction with our overall performance is measurably above the long-term average satisfaction score of 6.7 and was the second highest overall satisfaction score recorded for Wyndham City (the highest being a score of 7.2 in 2015/16).

"Importantly, none of Council's 46 services declined in their satisfaction ratings during 2023/24, and all services deemed of high importance obtained an excellent or very good score."

"I'm particularly proud of the significant gains we've made in community satisfaction relating to Council's governance and leadership, with the average satisfaction across all indicators up by an average of 10 per cent, including an 11 per cent increase in satisfaction for community consultation and engagement."

"Meanwhile, our customer service experience continues to rank as "very good" among the community, and our residents are also satisfied with Council's efforts at keeping the community informed about its work, services, activities and programs."
