Today, Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with the European Union Director General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman to discuss assistance for Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as increasing collaboration on assistance for Moldova. Director General Koopman provided an update on the progress of commitments for Armenia following the April 5 U.S.-EU-Armenia High-Level Meeting and on the EU Measures in Kosovo.
The two also discussed the Western Balkans Growth Plan and opportunities for donor coordination for the humanitarian response and recovery in Gaza, as well as support to Haiti. Both Deputy Administrator Coleman and Director General Koopman expressed a desire to continue close collaboration between USAID and the EU on assistance to the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
