Police are investigating after a fatal collision in Unanderra; south of Wollongong this afternoon, NSW Police say.
Emergency services were called to Five Islands Road, Unanderra, about 3.50pm today, following reports that a car was on fire.
Initial investigations suggest that several cars were involved in a collision, before one car caught fire resulting in a person dying inside the vehicle.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A crime scene has been established and Five Islands Road is closed in both directions.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
