Man Charged for Courtroom Photography, Fairfield Assault

A man has been charged after allegedly taking images inside a court and assaulting a person outside a short time later.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command commenced inquiries following reports a man in a court room allegedly took an image on his mobile phone and used a social media platform to distribute the image.

About 11.40am, the man left the court on Spencer Street, Fairfield, and allegedly spat in the direction of media outside.

Police attended and spoke to a 28-year-old man, who was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

The man was charged with use recording device in court premises and common assault.

He was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court on Thursday 9 May 2024.
