A man has died while surfing at a beach at Yamba on the state’s north coast, NSW Police say.
About 9.20am today (Wednesday 11 April 2018), a 57-year-old man was surfing at Main Beach when he disappeared under waist deep water.
The man was assisted out of the surf by life guards, who commenced CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.
He was taken to Maclean District Hospital where he died.
It is believed the man may have suffered a medical episode.
A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
