Cabonne Council is nearing completion of the Molong Town Centre Activation Project. The final piece to complete the project (until sealing and linemarking is undertaken in the spring) is hotmix patching of Bank Street (between Watson Street and Gidley Street).
Contractors will be undertaking the hotmix patching this Saturday, 18 May 2024 between 7am and 5pm.
For the works to be undertaken in a quick and effective manner, the works will be managed in stages as a rolling closure to ensure access is maintained to the main street and businesses.
- Stage 1 – involves the closure of the western end of Bank Street (between Gidley Street and the Cane Shop) of both sides of the road. This will start at approximately 7am. Once this section has been completed the road will be reopened.
- Stage 2 – involves the closure of the northern side of Bank Street (between the IGA and Watson Street) of one side of the road. Once this section has been completed the road will be reopened.
- Stage 3 – involves the closure of the southern side of Bank Street (between Molong Stores and Watson Street) of one side of the road. This will be the final stage of the works and is expected to be completed by 5pm. Once this section has been completed the road will be reopened.
Additional traffic control personnel will be present to assist with traffic movements to ensure the continuous flow and safety of all road users. Pedestrian and residential access will be maintained throughout the works.
Council encourages alternative parking options to Bank Street this Saturday to ensure the works can happen in a timely manner. Parking won't be available in the work area, and traffic control will be asking people to move their vehicles before each stage to ensure works can take place. Parking is available on Gidley Street, Watson Street and at the Railway Station.
The project has been completed three weeks ahead of the original scheduled completion date and Council would like to thank the community and businesses for their ongoing patience and support during the project.
