Multiple Firearm Charges Filed in Carina Heights, Police Update

Detectives from the Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged five people with multiple offences following an extensive investigation into a shooting at Carina Heights last month, March 31.

On April 23, police executed a search warrant at an address on Knight Avenue, Silkstone and allegedly located ammunition, drugs, including methylamphetamine and heroin, as well as a conducted energy weapon.

Police also executed a search warrant at an address on Winstanley Street, Carina Heights and allegedly located a firearm, ammunition, drugs including methylamphetamine and cannabis, an excavator that was allegedly stolen from Nundah in March, an allegedly stolen trailer and a Ford Ranger that was allegedly stolen from Logan Reserve in March.

Police have charged a 20-year-old Ripley man with one count each of failing to appear in court, receiving stolen property, unlawful use of motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, discharging a weapon in a public place, contravening an order about device information from digital device and possessing explosives.

He is next due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court May 15, 2024.

Police have charged a 22-year-old Ripley woman with one count of contravening an order about device information from digital device.

She is next due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 13, 2024.

Police have charged a 47-year-old Raceview man with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of contravening an order about device information from digital device, possessing utensils and possess restricted item.

He is next due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 13, 2024.

Police have charged a 35-year-old Springfield Lakes man with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and discharge a firearm in a public place.

He is next due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 4, 2024.

Police have charged a 30-year-old Carina Heights woman with one count of unlawful use of motor vehicle.

She is next due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 6, 2024.
