The 25 new professors at the University of Helsinki will present the latest research findings in their fields on Wednesday, 29 May from 14.15 to 16.15. The inaugural lectures will be held in the Main Building at Fabianinkatu 33. The lectures are also available for streaming.
Professor of Global Forests and Land Use Edward Webb, Professor of Earthquake Seismology Gregor Hillers, Professor of Data Science (Knowledge Discovery in Big Data) Simon Puglisi, Professor of Law Dorota Gozdecka and Professor of the Philosophy of Social Science and Sustainability Michiru Nagatsu will give their inaugural lectures in English.
Following the inaugural lectures, an inauguration ceremony at the Great Hall of the University at 17.00 will feature a speech by Chancellor Kaarle Hämeri, the inaugural lecture by Professor of Social Work Timo Harrikari (in Finnish), introductions of the new professors and musical performances. After the ceremony, the audience is invited to attend a reception held in the foyers of the Main Building.
