Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) is in the spotlight after receiving international accolades at the most coveted and recognised competition in the world of events, the Eventex Awards 2024.
NTMEC received five awards in the 14th edition of the Global Eventex Awards, which saw a record 1207 entries from 62 countries. Parrtjima 2023 was the most successful with four awards, while The NTMEC team won a Gold award for using events as a tool for good for the region.
The awards NTMEC received were: Gold - Best Australian/Oceania Event Parrtjima, Gold - Cross-channel storytelling Parrtjima, Gold - Event Team NTMEC, Silver - Cultural Event Parrtjima and Silver - Community Engagement Event Parrtjima.
The awards follow several years where NTMEC has been recognised by Eventex.
NTMEC's portfolio of events includes Parrtjima - A Festival in Light, Million Dollar Fish, BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival, the Territory's annual NRL game, Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round, Territory Day, Red CentreNATS and the Alice Springs Masters Games. The events not only improve the liveability of the Northern Territory but also draw people from around the world to experience incredible events and immerse themselves in the unique culture and landscapes of the Northern Territory.
Parrtjima 2023 drew an attendance of more than 20,000, while generating a total expenditure stimulus in the NT of $14.9 million, of which $11.9 million, 80 per cent, was new money to the NT. Parrtjima 2023 resulted in more than 29,000 direct visitor nights across the NT with the visitor expenditure impact being $10.9 million.
