Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Charlotte

Northern Territory Police are investigating after a fatal crash in Charlotte yesterday.

Around 4:30pm, police received a report that a vehicle carrying two occupants had crashed on Litchfield Park Road around 45km's from the intersection of Cox Peninsula Road.

Upon attendance, emergency services located a deceased 29-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man suffering non-life-threatening injuries. He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was declared and the road was closed in both directions with motorists advised to avoid the area overnight.

The road has since re-opened.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said "The female passenger was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

"Major Crash detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and will await forensic toxicology results to determine whether the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs."
