A man will face court today charged the alleged armed robbery of a business in Western Sydney overnight.
About 12.40am (Wednesday 8 May 2024), officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were called to a licenced hotel on Great Western Highway, Kingswood, following reports of an armed robbery.
At the scene, police were told that a man entered the premises and allegedly threatened three employees with a firearm before fleeing with cash.
Officers established a perimeter, stopping a rideshare vehicle and spoke with a male passenger before he fled on foot, jumping fences on First Avenue.
During a search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a prohibited firearm and multiple clothing items.
A search was conducted of the area with the assistance of the Dog Unit, and a man was located in a dumpster on Bringelly Lane.
During a search of the man, police located and seized the stolen cash. The 37-year-old was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station.
He has since been charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon.
The Telopea man has been refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court today (Wednesday 8 May 2024).
