Police Charge Man After E-scooter Hit Run

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a woman was allegedly hit by an e-scooter in East Melbourne last Friday night.

The 81-year-old woman was walking towards Jolimont Railway Station from the MCG when she was allegedly confronted by a man riding an e-scooter about 11pm on Friday 3 May.

As the woman walked away, she was allegedly struck from behind by the e-scooter, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The e-scooter rider allegedly did not stop and was chased by a passer-by.

The victim was conveyed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 46-year-old Melbourne man has been charged with recklessly cause injury, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and aggravated assault of a female.

He was remanded and will appear before the Bail and Remand Court tonight.
