Police have charged a man as part of a homicide investigation into the death of a 55-year-old Kilkivan man in Kilkivan last month.
Just after 3pm on April 12, police were called to a Running Creek Road address to reports of a disturbance.
A 55-year-old Kilkivan man was located with critical stab wounds and pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 42-year-old Kilkivan man allegedly threatened attending officers with a knife and was subsequently shot by police.
He remains in hospital for treatment to the injuries he sustained.
The 42-year-old Kilkivan man has been charged with one count each of murder and serious assault police officer while armed with a weapon.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 26.
This matter is continuing to be investigated by the Ethical Standards Command with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
