Psilocybin 'Magic Mushroom' Operation Charges, Marsden

Queensland Police have charged a 31-year-old man with drug production offences, after raids at two properties in Logan allegedly uncovered a commercial scale psilocybin (magic mushroom) production operation.

Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad executed search warrants at the addresses on First Avenue in Marsden and Rossmore Road in Chambers Flat yesterday, April 18.

At the Marsden address, police allegedly located 200 plastic tubs of hallucinogenic mushrooms and a large quantity of dried mushrooms.

Police will allege the rooms had all been converted to cater for the various stages of production.

Specialist officers from the Synthetic Drug Operations Unit and attended the location to remove the items.

A 31-year-old New South Wales man has been charged with one count each of production of a dangerous drug, possess dangerous drug, possess anything used in the commission of crime, possess proceeds, and contravene a Magistrates Order.

Detective Inspector Craig Bowman from the Organised Crime Gangs Group said the investigations reflect police's ongoing commitment to disrupting criminal activity in Queensland.

"These criminal syndicates have no regard for the wider harm illicit drugs cause to the community. They are motivated by profit, which is often used to fund further criminal activity," Detective Inspector Bowman said.
