Remote MacDonnell Arrest: Police Respond to Firearm Incident

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to a firearm incident that occurred in a remote MacDonnell community.

At 3.30pm on Friday 10 May 2024, police received reports of a firearm allegedly being discharged by a 39-year-old man in a remote MacDonnell community. The offender allegedly attended a residence and engaged in a fight with another male, before allegedly discharging a firearm into the air. He allegedly drove recklessly around the scene before fleeing.

Police attended and arrested the offender. He has been charged with Discharging a firearm causing danger, Unlawful possession of a firearm, and Recklessly endangering serious harm.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court today.

The firearm has not been located and police continue to investigate.
