The Royal Australian Mint is celebrating its gold win at the 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, announced in Darwin last Friday night.
The Mint was named as Australia's Best Cultural Tourism destination ahead of Immersive Tours and Adventures (Queensland) and Geelong Gallery (Victoria).
The 2023 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards brought together more than 180 leading operators to highlight innovation and excellence in the tourism and accommodation industry, and to underscore the nation-wide commitment to quality, innovation, and accessibility. With a focus on providing exceptional experiences for all visitors, the event celebrated the achievements of businesses that continue to raise the bar in Australian tourism.
Royal Australian Mint CEO, Leigh Gordon, said the Mint was proud to represent the ACT at the Qantas National Tourism Awards and even more thrilled to bring home a gold award.
"The ACT certainly outdid itself in the 10 categories being contested, winning seven awards - three gold, three silver and one bronze.
"The Mint is about more than money, we tell the stories of Australia, highlighting who we are and what's important to us. From Vegemite and Holden cars to recognising front line workers and important anniversaries, we put Australia's stories in your pocket for you to remember and enjoy.
"I'd like to extend congratulations to all the other entrants and winners," Mr Gordon said.
The win comes off the back of the Mint's success at the 2023 Canberra Region Tourism Awards, where it was named the ACT's best Cultural Tourism destination and the coveted People's Choice Award for Favourite Attraction.
