A truck fire on a major highway is causing delays in the state's south.
About 1.30am today (Wednesday 4 August 2021), emergency services responded to reports of a truck alight along the north bound lanes of the Hume Highway, Marulan.
The fire was extinguished by NSW Fire and Rescue. Significant damage was sustained to the truck.
It is believed the truck was carrying a large volume of paint and batteries which are now the subject of a clean up operation.
Officers from The Hume Police District attended and implemented a traffic diversion.
All north bound lanes of the Hume Highway are currently closed. Traffic is being diverted for 3km from George Street through the township of Marulan.
Motorist are urged to avoid the area.
Delays are expected until at least mid-morning.
There are no reports of injuries.
Inquiries are continuing into the cause of the fire.
