Ambassador Laura Holgate, US Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, met with IIASA Director General John Schellnhuber to discuss advancing collaboration on leveraging systems analysis for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The visit strengthened ties between IIASA and the US, emphasizing a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange for informed decision making.

IIASA was honored to welcome Ambassador Holgate on 19 April. During her visit, Ambassador Holgate engaged in constructive discussions with IIASA Director General John Schellnhuber, further advancing the existing collaboration between IIASA and the United States.
The discussions promise to bolster the ongoing IIASA-US relationship. Of particular note were the insightful deliberations on leveraging systems analysis to address the SDGs. The exchange covered a spectrum of crucial areas including demographic projections, youth employment, capacity building, climate change mitigation, and the peaceful application of nuclear science in sectors such as agriculture and energy.
Furthermore, discussions also covered Schellnhuber's upcoming trip to the United States in May 2024.
Ambassador Holgate's visit underscored the shared commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and global knowledge exchange, which are key pillars of IIASA's mission.
