The World Bank launched 'PostPro TalentLab,' a 4-month training program for aspiring professionals in Bangladesh to equip them with skills, knowledge, and resources needed for post-production jobs in the film and content-making industry in the country and internationally.
Post-production activities-such as editing, special effects, color correction, and sound mixing-play a crucial role in film and content creation. The country's growing film and content industry has the potential to be worth $2 billion annually, with earnings coming from both domestic and global markets. The rise of streaming services (like Netflix), Over-the-top (OTT) platforms, and modern multiplex movie theaters open up unprecedented opportunities for creating hundreds and thousands of jobs in Bangladesh.
"With our large youth population, Bangladesh has a promising future in the global post-production industry, if supported by the right skills set and policies," said Abdoulaye Seck, World Bank Country Director for Bangladesh and Bhutan. "The workshop provides a unique opportunity for post-production professionals to acquire skills and knowledge to drive growth and innovation in the content-making and film industries locally and internationally."
A cohort of 23 post-production professionals-including colorists, sound designers, editors, directors, cinematographers-has been competitively selected to participate in the first workshop. The workshop will bring in award-winning international experts to provide hands-on training in cinematic post-production topics, including color grading and digital intermediary techniques, sound design and mixing, and editing and post-production supervision. The participants will have the opportunity to enhance their skills, gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies, collaborate with peers on real-world projects, and receive technical support to make original short films.

Post-production skills and industries can contribute to country's green growth by adopting energy-efficient practices, minimizing waste, sourcing materials responsibly, reducing carbon emissions, and promoting environmental awareness. "By investing in the green skills and talents of the country's youth, the World Bank aims to help build a brighter future for generations to come," said Yoko Nagashima, World Bank Senior Education Specialist.
The training program is funded by the Korea-World Bank Partnership Facility (KWPF) trust fund.
