$1.6M Boost for Geraldton Worker Housing

  • $1.6 million State Government funding for Olive Street key worker housing project in Geraldton
  • $5.99 million project to deliver seven dwellings on freehold lots owned by the City of Greater Geraldton
  • Part of Cook Government's commitment to bolster the supply of housing across Western Australia

The Cook Government has committed $1.6 million towards the Olive Street key worker housing project in Geraldton.

The $5.99 million project will deliver seven dwellings on seven freehold lots owned by the City of Greater Geraldton.

Once complete, the accommodation will be made available to assist in attracting and retaining essential staff for local businesses or for key workers such as teachers, healthcare professionals and police.

The project has been funded by the State Government, with a co-contribution from the City of Greater Geraldton.

As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:

"Our Government continues to do everything we can to bolster the supply of housing across Western Australia.

"All tiers of government have a role to play in boosting housing supply and it's great to work with the City of Greater Geraldton to unlock this site's development potential for key worker accommodation."

As stated by Regional Development Minister Don Punch:

"We know Geraldton is an amazing place to live, work and visit, and we're very keen to continue to do whatever we can to make it even better through boosting housing supply and supporting regional development projects that benefit the community.

"Building new worker accommodation will support local businesses to attract and retain staff in key areas such as teaching, health care and police."

As stated by Geraldton MLA Lara Dalton:

"These new homes will be a welcome addition to the community and will support local families in my electorate.

"This is a fantastic outcome for Geraldton, and I'm proud to be a part of the Cook Labor Government as we continue to deliver essential housing in a key regional community."
