$1.9M Boost for Arts and Cultural Experiences

  • WA Government funding for Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups and Arts Projects for Organisations 2024-25 programs supports 42 initiatives
  • More than $1.9 million to help artists and creative industry professionals and organisations deliver one-off projects or a program of activities
  • Funding to develop and grow the sector by providing high-quality arts and cultural experiences

Western Australians can look forward to plenty of exciting arts and cultural activities including various exhibitions, performances, theatre shows, educational workshops and much more through Western Australian Government culture and the arts funding.

Twenty-four initiatives will share in $746,057 in grants from the 2024-25 round of the Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups program, and 18 initiatives will share in $1,156,562 in grants from the 2024-25 round of the Arts Projects for Organisations program.

Totalling $1,902,619, this funding aims to grow the arts sector by supporting Western Australian artists and creative industry professionals and organisations to create and deliver high-quality experiences communities can participate and actively engage in.

Administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the programs support successful applicants to deliver a one-off project or a program of activities.

The recipients of the 2024-25 Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups program are:

  • Abdul-Rahman Abdullah - $9,992 for 5 Acts of Love;
  • Alice Humphries - $35,596 for How Waves Are Made;
  • Ashlyn Jade Koh - $14,203 for Kallum Mungulu of Mowanjum;
  • Banjo Caruana-Butler - $16,850 for Banjo Lucia;
  • Cathy Blanchflower - $7,092 for residency at Matdot Art Centre;
  • Silver Sands Guitar Quartet - $19,174 for Tour of France 2025;
  • Eduardo Cossio - $20,144 for solo exhibition at Ellenbrook Arts;
  • Humphrey Bower - $43,756 for An Imaginary Life at Ten Days on the Island 2025;
  • Katie West - $10,107 for Disconnect Disorder solo exhibition;
  • Kavyen Beaton Temperley - $44,772 for ArtsiX 2025;
  • Laurent Shervington - $38,526 for Didion's Bible album tour;
  • Leigh Gardiner - $32,848 for Tender is the Night 2025;
  • Marie-Muriel Hillion Toulcanon - $39,996 for Sanctuary Within;
  • Mark Neal - $64,430 for BLOOM;
  • Meg Emily Caddy - $20,814 for Dross Magic;
  • Oceanique - $25,910 for Folk Alliance International Showcase and Canadian Tour;
  • Rachel Mary McMurray - $62,388 for Testimony;
  • Sage Jane Harlow - $50,197 for creative development of O,D,E;
  • Shupiwe Chongwe - $11,529 for Bedforms Exhibition: Perth Festival 2025;
  • Stephen Hawke - $36,600 for The Foothills of Hell;
  • Talya Rubin - $71,744 for theatre premier of Zoology by Too Close to the Sun;
  • Teresa Izzard - $26,994 for Feet First Collective to remount Shadow Boxing at Theatre Works;
  • Valdene Diprose - $22,883 for Interlaced; and
  • Vanessa Wallace - $19,512 for Holmes Studio.

The recipients of the 2024-25 Arts Projects for Organisations program are:

  • 360 Artist Logistics - $44,823 for Sound States Music Business Mentorship Program 2025;
  • Audioplay Australia - $71,270 for Business Development;
  • Boss Arts Creative - $75,920 for Bina Bidi - Indigenous Performance Program 2025;
  • Decibel New Music Ensemble - $79,538 for Decibel Activity 2025;
  • Encounter Theatre - $79,553 for Stories Begin Here;
  • Freeze Frame Opera - $79,943 for Freeze Frame Opera Annual Program of Activity 2025;
  • Indian Ocean Craft Triennial - $80,000 for the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial Sustainable Development and Outreach 2025;
  • Indigo Junction - $79,500 for Stories from Midland
  • Kimberley Arts Network - $25,110 for Co-pilot Project - Regional Arts Triennial 2026;
  • My Place WA - $79,951 for Repeat After Me;
  • Performing Lines - $70,334 for The Simmering;
  • Seesaw Magazine - $80,000 for Seesaw 2025 Annual Program of Activity;
  • Southern Forest Arts - $80,000 for Southern Forest Arts Annual Program 2025;
  • The Equity Benevolent Guild of WA - $24,000 for The 2025 Performing Arts WA Awards;
  • The Perth Centre for Photography - $56,443 for their new strategic review;
  • Theatre 180 - $80,000 for Theatre 180 Annual Program of Activity 2025;
  • The University of Western Australia Westerly Magazine - $20,447 for publication of Westerly Magazine in 2025; and
  • Waringarri Arts Aboriginal Corporation - $49,730 for the Kimberley Aboriginal Arts and Culture International Connections Project.
