- Financial support for visual and performing arts, music, dance and theatre projects
- 34 grants totalling more than $1 million awarded to develop the sector in WA
- Three rounds of Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups funding available each financial year
Dozens of community groups and individuals will benefit from more than $1 million in Cook Government grants to support arts, music and cultural projects in Western Australia.
The Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups grant program supports the development and growth of a sector that promotes the participation and active engagement of WA communities in high-quality arts and cultural experiences.
The program, which has three rounds of funding each financial year, offers up to $80,000 each for artists and creative industry professionals to deliver a one-off project or program of activities.
It replaces the Arts 15k-plus and Arts U-15k programs and is divided into three categories: Creative Development; Arts and Creative Business Development; and Aboriginal Arts.
In the latest round of funding, which opened on 22 August 2023 and closed on 28 September 2023, there were 34 successful applicants sharing a total of $1,046,060 in funding.
More information about the program and how to apply is available on the Department of Local Government, Sport and Culture Industries' website: https://www.dlgsc.wa.gov.au/funding/arts-funding/arts-projects-for-individuals-and-groups/arts-projects-for-individuals-and-groups-guidelines.
As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:
"Each of the 34 high-quality projects supported by the Government are certainly worthy of funding under this grants program, and our investment will play an important part in developing and enhancing the arts and culture sector in WA.
"The successful projects involve a wide range of artistic disciplines, including visual and performing arts, music, dance, and theatre, among many others. It's a true reflection of the diversity and vibrancy of the arts and creative industries sector in WA.
"I hope when these exciting projects are completed, their work will get the enormous support from the community that they deserve, and I personally can't wait to see the results from these highly talented and creative grant recipients.
"I encourage our amazing artists to apply for these grants to help develop, promote and implement their projects, and transform their ideas into reality for the benefit of the wider WA community."
