1000 Lawn Mowers: Tassie Man Bags $1.3 Million Lotto

A Tasmanian retiree, buzzing with excitement, is planning to upgrade his gardening gear with a top-of-the-line lawn mowers, thanks to his huge win from the $5.1 million lotto draw on the weekend.

With no registration on his winning ticket, it was a waiting game for lottery officials, who needed the lucky winner to check his ticket and initiate the claiming process. The man, a casual player for over 40 years, only discovered his fortune this morning.

“It’s unbelievable!” he exclaimed.

“I only discovered the news about 30 minutes ago. It’s very fresh!

“I’ve been playing for 40-odd years, and to be honest with you, I only play spasmodically – very lazily!

“I feel very lucky.

“I’ll be helping my children with the prize, but also treating myself to a new lawn mower! I could probably buy 1,000 lawn mowers!

“Thank you very, very much.”

His winning entry was purchased at Bicheno Newsagency, 41 Foster Street, Bicheno.
