11 Nabbed in Cross-Border Sting: Strike Force Uibque

Police have charged 11 people following a cross-border operation in the Murray River region under Strike Force Uibque.

Strike Force Uibque was established following a stabbing in Albury last week.

About 1pm on Monday 8 July 2024, police were called to Lindsay Avenue following reports a man had been stabbed.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 31-year-old man at the scene for stab wounds to his leg and back, before he was taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment. He remains in hospital.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District responded and established a crime scene and an investigation commenced.

Following investigations under Strike Force Uibque, officers attached to Murray River Police District with assistance from the State Crime Command Raptor Squad, Victoria Police's Viper Taskforce and the NSW Crime Commission executed six firearm prohibition orders in New South Wales and three search warrants in Victoria.

NSW Police arrested seven people and charged them with 12 offences. Victoria Police arrested and charged four people for various offences.

A notable incident includes;

About 7.30am on Monday 15 July 2024, officers from Murray River Police District with assistance from the State Crime Command's Raptor Squad executed a search warrant at a unit in Moore Street, Lavington. Police seized drugs, a laser pointer, two nunchakus, and number plates alleged to have been stolen. A 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station. He was charged with seven offences – three counts of possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), goods in personal custody, two counts of possess prohibited drug and unlawfully possess number plates. He was refused bail and appeared before Albury Local Court on Tuesday 16 July 2024.

Investigations into Strike Force Uibque are continuing.
