11 New Citizens Welcomed

Horsham Rural City Council hosted a citizenship ceremony at the Civic Centre this Tuesday where 11 people originating from the Philippines, Argentina, India and Indonesia were welcomed as new Australians.

The ceremony was officiated by Mayor Robyn Gulline, who congratulated the group for taking the final step in becoming citizens.

"Citizenship represents a commitment to Australia, the values we share, and our common future and it is an honour to be part of such a significant day for these residents who appreciate and value our society so much that they wish to make Australia their home." said Mayor Robyn Gulline.

Assisting the ceremony was the visiting Member for Lowan, Emma Kealy, who spoke on the importance of democracy.

HRCC conducts citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.
