Four men have been charged in relation to allegedly trafficking 1,4 Butanediol via domestic mail.
Officers from the Prahran Divisional Response Unit were supported by the Stonnington Neighbourhood Policing Team in arresting four alleged offenders and seizing drugs, cash and a weapon yesterday evening.
The men were arrested at a domestic mail delivery centre in St Kilda at about 6.30pm on 14 January.
It's alleged two of the offenders were at the collection window to receive the delivery when police arrested them, and the other two arrested were in a vehicle nearby.
The alleged consignment contained approximately 15 litres of 1,4 Butanediol, which is worth an estimated street value of $45,600.
In addition to the consignment, police also seized a machete, small quantities of cash and multiple drugs including methylamphetamine, MDMA, cocaine and prescription medication as a result of searching the vehicle.
Those arrested and subsequently charged include:
• 31-year-old Brighton man charged with traffick and attempted traffick commercial quantity of 1,4 Butanediol, possess MDMA, drug of dependence and schedule 4 poisons, and deal property suspected in the proceeds of crime.
• 25-year-old Templestowe Lower man charged with traffick and attempted traffick commercial quantity of 1,4 Butanediol, possess methyl amphetamine and possess controlled weapon.
• A 26-year-old Dandenong man and an 18-year-old Noble Park man were both issued with an infringement notice for possessing a controlled weapon.
The two men charged are expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
