A lot has been happening in Carisbrook lately and with this great autumn weather over recent weeks, a number of local projects have been completed:
First up, the Op-Shop in Green Street has had some works completed by our hard-working Ops team. They have:
- Replaced damaged weather boards.
- Painted the whole exterior.
- Spruced up the place in general.
Next, a new footpath in Bucknall Street, between McLachlan and McNeil which adds to a new stretch about the same time last year (March) along Urquart Street, between McLachlan and McNeil Streets.
Council is continually upgrading paths for accessibility and safety because many locals are now using mobility aids, so we need these improvements to make it easier and safer to get around. It also replaces dirt tracks and rough patches, which can become trip hazards, especially in the dark.
For those with school aged kids, Council has made some safety improvements at the Carisbrook Primary School Bus Stop in Camp Street by moving the parking out of way of the bus. This stops cars backing out in front of incoming buses and keeps visibility clear for bus drivers to see carers and kids. New signage and line markings will clearly outline the changes so no one (hopefully) gets confused. The job was complimented with a new area resurfacing.
Finally, the Tullaroop Creek Advisory Group will soon commence to support the Council's Waterway Management Plan for Carisbrook. The group consists of community members, the Ward Councillor and Council's relevant staff. Our new engagement website will keep locals up to date.
