With 2019 behind us, we wanted to reflect on the year in a way we haven't done before. Here are our 16 favourite quotes of last year, spoken by 16 different animal lovers involved with RSPCA South Australia. Their words remind us why our mission work of helping animals in need is so important. But more than that, they give us hope for the future of animals in our state.
1. Special needs, and unique joy
Words by: Annie, who made our first adoption of 2019. Her kitty Cisco is a sweet deaf cat whose extremely sunburnt nose had to be removed.
2. A completed family - and a much-loved deaf kitten
Words by: Nadia, enamoured adopted owner of Keller - a beautifully natured deaf cat requiring extra love as a special needs kitty.
3. A level of trust that's truly incredible
Words by: Darielle, adopted owner of Grace - a Great Dane who went from a neglected past to days spent running around her family's acres in the Adelaide Hills.
4. 'The one'
Words by: Amber, adopted owner and best friend of Charlie - an adorable ginger cat who was born at our shelter.
5. A hand-raised bond
Words by: Jessica, 'failed' foster carer and now adopted owner of Rod and Todd - gorgeous brothers who were orphaned as baby lambs.
6. Advice worth heeding
Words by: Marilyn, adopted owner of Morticia - a pug who went on an incredible weight loss journey at our Lonsdale shelter.
7. Volunteer perks
11. When a special puppy changes your whole perspective
Words by: Shelley, adopted owner of Lilly - a gorgeous girl who
came to us with a badly broken leg as a tiny puppy.
12. Hope is restored
Words by: Katie, mum of two young toddlers and adopted owner of
brave tabby Rush - who lost his leg after a dreadful injury, but has now become the best of friends with his (human) baby sisters!
