Mildura Rural City Council has celebrated the enthusiasm, talents and achievements of our region's young people as part of this year's Youth Awards.
Sixteen people from across our municipality, including two Murrayville residents, nominated for this year's Awards.
The Youth Awards is an opportunity to recognise and highlight the work our youth are doing and to celebrate the contributions they are making to the wider community.
Mildura Mayor Jason Modica congratulated everyone who nominated for this year's awards.
"Each year our Youth Engagement Services team hold these awards it's so impressive to see what our amazing young people are achieving in so many different areas," Cr Modica said.
"All 16 nominees are deserving of recognition for their contributions to our community, and give our region so much pride and hope, as it's this generation who will be our future leaders."
Coinciding with Victorian Youth Week, a virtual awards presentation was held last night to announce the following winners:
Youth Volunteer Award - Sophie McAliece
Youth Group Award - All Abilities football coaching team
Youth Carer Award - Martin Zigashane
Youth Artist Award - Sophia Craig.
The presentation was made by the Mayor and can be viewed on the Youth Engagement Services Facebook page.
The awards were first offered seven years ago as a way to say thank you to local under 25s who do their bit to support the many events, programs and people in our region and are presented each year in the lead up to Victorian Youth Week.
