Cessnock City Council is excited to release the 2022 Cessnock City Seniors Festival program which is packed with concerts, films, talks, workshops, open days and more!

Featuring over 50 free events across the LGA, the 2022 Cessnock City Seniors Festival will run from 23 March to 9 April 2022 and the theme for this year is 'Reconnect'.

This year's program aligns with the five ways to wellbeing framework. This framework helps people improve their physical and mental wellness by doing five simple things each day: connect, be active, be aware, keep learning, and help others.

Cessnock City Council Mayor Jay Suvaal said the pandemic had quite an impact on local seniors, and this year's festival was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

"There really is something for everyone, so I encourage local seniors to check out the program, try something new, and make the most of what the Festival has to offer," Councillor Suvaal said.

"Local partnerships are key to the success of the festival. This year, more than 25 community services and organisations are actively involved in the program, which is fantastic to see."

Festival highlights this year include Fearless Films 3 followed by a live discussion with Stockman legend Kelvin Gregory, a day of cultural sharing with Ngiyampaa Elder, Aunty D, and a history walk in Chinaman's Hollow. Lower Hunter Transport Services will provide door to door transport to most events for a gold coin donation.

Programs can be picked up at Cessnock City and Kurri Kurri Libraries, and participating venues. The program is also available online at www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/Seniors2022.

Cessnock City Council would like to acknowledge the support of the NSW Seniors Festival Grant program and our generous Gold Sponsors, Feros Care, Northern Coalfields Community Care Association, Calvary Cessnock Retirement Community, Cessnock Priceline Pharmacy, myHomecare and East Cessnock Bowling Club. Thanks also goes to Silver Sponsor, Cessnock Hospitality Group.
