Cricket Australia congratulates the individual and team winners of the 2024-25 State Cricket Awards following a brilliant domestic season.
Anika Learoyd has won her first Cricket Australia Indigenous Cricketer of the Year award following impressive performances over the past 12 months.
Learoyd represented New South Wales in all Women's National Cricket League matches this season culminating in a Player of the Match performance in the final against Queensland.
Her WNCL final heroics were the icing on an outstanding season for the 22-year-old Gumbaynggirr woman, as Learoyd finished her 2024-25 campaign with 577 runs in 13 innings at an average of 48.08, including her second WNCL century.
Learoyd's domestic form was rewarded with a call-up to the Governor-General's XI that played England in January, the 'Green v Gold' red-ball game in March and the current multi-format series between Australia A and England A.
Sam Nogajski has received the Cricket Australia Umpire Award for the third consecutive year after another exceptional season at both international and domestic level.
On the international stage, Nogajski made his men's World Cup officiating debut at the T20 event in June 2024, standing in four group-stage matches, including the United States-India clash in New York.
His strong performances across domestic formats earned him on-field appointments to all three men's competition finals (KFC BBL, One-Day Cup and Sheffield Shield).
The Tasmanian was recently added to the ICC's Emerging Umpire Panel, a development squad comprising individuals from the International Panel of Umpires who have been identified as the most deserving of stretch opportunities.
New South Wales won the Women's Benaud Spirit of Cricket Award finishing with 93 points at the end of the WNCL season, three points ahead of Queensland.
Victoria took out this year's Men's Benaud Spirit of Cricket Award, with a combined 293 points across the Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup competitions, eight points ahead of Tasmania.
In the Spirit of Cricket Awards, teams are awarded points across three categories at the end of each match with Respect for Opponents, Respect for Umpires and Respect for the Game all considered.
James Allsopp, Cricket Australia Chief of Cricket said:
"The 2024-25 domestic season has been a great success, and we congratulate all award winners on their outstanding performances.
"In addition to the award winners, CA extends its congratulations to South Australia and New South Wales for their domestic titles this season.
"The scenes of jubilation at Karen Rolton Oval as South Australia broke a 29-year Sheffield Shield drought was special and illustrates the passion and connection supporters have to domestic cricket.
"The Sheffield Shield Final win ensured a fine men's domestic double for South Australia to go with the squad's One-Day Cup triumph, while New South Wales claimed its 21st WNCL title and first since 2018-19.
"It is timely to say a big thank you to all players, coaches, support staff, match officials and administration staff who all came together to ensure that we had strong, competitive and vibrant domestic competitions - competitions that continue to be fundamental to Australia producing strong national teams.
"We also extend our thanks to all our partners including Foxtel and Kayo Sports for their ongoing support of domestic cricket.
"In addition to these awards, CA would like to again congratulate the previously announced 2024-25 award winners."
