Export Awards showcase best of the Territory

4 October 2024

The achievements of extraordinary Northern Territory exporters have been recognised at this year's Chief Minister's NT Export Awards, with Ikuntji Art Centre named Exporter of the Year.

The nominees represent a broad range of sectors including agriculture, international education, creative industries, professional services, and advanced manufacturing.

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said the Northern Territory was home to a growing number of innovative and high-achieving businesses.

"My newly elected CLP government is working hard to rebuild our economy, and this means supporting businesses by slashing red tape, reducing payroll tax and making it easier to do business here in the Territory," she said.

"International trade is a major driver for economic growth and these awards provide opportunity to recognise the significant contribution and achievements of our Territory exporters.

"It is important that we continue to recognise the contribution these businesses make to the Territory economy, and by supporting them we are enabling more opportunities for Territorians helping grow the industry."

Territory exporters contribute over $14 billion to the Territory economy annually and are a significant contributor to Australia's national trade.

"International trade and investment are the foundations of our economic growth which is why we have a Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations to refocus the Territory into neighbouring markets," Mrs Finocchiaro said.

Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill said Territory export businesses were the lifeblood of our economy, driving growth and fostering innovation.

"By connecting local ingenuity with global markets, we elevate the Territory's economic standing and contribute to a more interconnected and prosperous world."
