The program, developed by Geelong Sustainability, will be open to expressions of interest until 30 October across the Surf Coast, Geelong and surrounding regions.
The Electric Homes Program has a focus on promoting energy-efficient solutions, including solar panels, batteries, and other home efficiency improvements.
It is designed to help homeowners save money on their energy bills, reduce emissions, switch off gas and live more comfortably in their homes.
The program will provide participating homes with:
- A comprehensive energy audit to identify opportunities for energy savings.
- A variety of products and services including solar, battery storage, heating and cooling split systems, hot water heat pumps, electric vehicle chargers, induction cooktop installations, home insulation and draught proofing.
- Unique services and pricing on certain products as part of the program by trusted businesses and service providers,
- Information sessions to help educate residents about the benefits of energy-efficient home upgrades.
The Surf Coast Shire Council has a focus on environmental leadership, and the Electric Homes Program, aligns with its Climate Emergency Action Plan (2023-2025). The initiative supports the Council's goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance renewable energy use, and improve community resilience to climate change.
"The Electric Homes Program represents a significant step in Council's ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability," said Mayor Cr Liz Pattison.
"By partnering with Geelong Sustainability, we are making it easier for residents to access energy-efficient solutions, reduce their carbon footprint, and lower their energy bills."
