Queensland's top 10 state school music ensembles are preparing for success ahead of the 2024 Instrumental Fanfare state finals.
The five primary and five secondary state school bands, orchestras and ensembles were selected as state finalists following a series of regional festivals across Queensland.
Education Minister Di Farmer congratulated the young musicians, their schools and teachers on their outstanding performances and wished them well in the upcoming state finals.
The biennial Instrumental Fanfare program began in 1985 to highlight the achievements and talent of school-based ensembles and teachers in the Instrumental Music program.
More than 1100 ensembles from more than 400 state schools performed in the regional festivals in Term 2. To date, more than 220,000 instrumental music students from across Queensland have participated in the program, including 30,000 this year.
The program fosters young musicians' development and promotes musical excellence through performance.
Students have the opportunity to gain valuable performance experience, receive feedback from professional adjudicators and enjoy other schools' performances.
Students from as far north as Cairns right down to the Gold Coast will travel to Brisbane to perform in the primary state final on Thursday 15 August and the secondary state final on Friday 16 August.
This year's program sponsor is Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, which has generously provided the venue for both state final events.
Tickets to the Instrumental Fanfare 2024 primary and secondary state finals are available through QTIX or by telephone 136 246.
As stated by Education Minister Di Farmer:
"I am so pleased to announce the 2024 Instrumental Fanfare state finalists."
"Fanfare has been around for almost 40 years and has provided a platform for students to showcase their musical abilities.
"None of this could be possible however without the dedication of and passion of their teachers, schools and their parents, so a big thank you for supporting these students and good luck to everyone on the night."
