- Ten school students from across Western Australia will travel to Singapore to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the fall of Singapore
- 2024 Premier's ANZAC Student Tour participants to share in memorable history lessons and honour those who served in the armed forces in WWII
Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Dr Tony Buti today announced the names of the 10 students who will participate in the 2024 Premier's ANZAC Student Tour.
The students will travel to Singapore as part of a 10-day tour to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the fall of Singapore.
The 10 successful secondary students come from nine different schools around the State.
They will depart on Saturday, 6 April 2023 and return on Monday, 15 April 2024. The students will be accompanied by three teachers.
The 2024 tour will give students the unique opportunity to follow the footsteps of the brave men and women who served in the armed forces in the Pacific region in World War II.
The Premier's ANZAC Student Tour is an annual competition open to all Western Australian students in Years 8 - 11. Since 2004, a total of 256 students have been selected to participate in the program.
As part of a rigorous application process, students were selected for the tour based on their response to the question: By exploring a selected Western Australian individual, community group or organisation, explain how they demonstrate the values and actions of the ANZAC spirit and the impact this has had on society?
The 2024 Premier's ANZAC Student Tour participants are:
- Year 8 Caitlyn Willis, Guildford Grammar School
- Year 9 Avery Flint, Applecross Senior High School
- Year 9 Milla Lobik, Applecross Senior High School
- Year 9 Mazlyn Membry, Manjimup Senior High School
- Year 9 Tahlia Watson, Geraldton Senior High School
- Year 9 Aja Kondo-Morcom, Mount Lawley Senior High School
- Year 9 Keona Latiff, Canning Vale College
- Year 10 Freya Hicks, Christmas Island District High School
- Year 11 Tim Kania, Aquinas College
- Year 11 William Temby, Margaret River Senior High School
