- Hundreds of banners are flying across WA in support of reconciliation
- National Reconciliation Week 2024 runs from 27 May to 3 June with the theme of "Now More Than Ever"
- As well as viewing the street banners, there is a range of events and opportunities for everyone in Western Australia to get involved in-person or online
Organisations and local governments across metropolitan Perth and regional WA have again joined together in a stunning display of unity through the annual Reconciliation Week Street Banners Project.
As part of this year's exciting and powerful program for National Reconciliation Week (NRW), the Street Banners Project provides an opportunity for an emerging Aboriginal artist to have their artwork featured on banners and digital signs right across the State.
The banners are sponsored by local businesses and agencies wanting to actively show their support for reconciliation.
National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June each year, with the dates commemorating the successful 1967 referendum (27 May) and the Mabo decision (3 June). The theme this year is "Now More Than Ever".
This year the banners feature the striking artwork Mina Mina from emerging Aboriginal artist Renita Brown Nungurray.
This work documents a significant women's Dreaming site, the story of which was passed down to her through her Warlpiri matriarchal line.
