Nominations for the 2025 Warrnambool Citizen of the Year Awards are now open.
Held annually, the awards recognise the people and events that make Warrnambool a great place to live and visit.
Categories include Warrnambool Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (aged 16-30), Community Event of the Year and Local Achiever.
Warrnambool City Council CEO Andrew Mason encouraged everyone to think about who they feel deserves wider recognition for their contributions to Warrnambool, and to nominate them for an award.
"Behind every great community initiative, event, group or club, there are passionate, determined and community-minded people who make it happen," he said.
"People that give their time, effort and expertise to make the lives of others that much better.
"These awards are about publicly thanking these people for the contributions they make to the community.
"Taking a few minutes to nominate someone for an award is a great way to show your appreciation for everything that they do."
The awards will be presented in early 2025.
Nominations close on Wednesday November 20, 2024.
In January this year musician and disability advocate Tom Richardson was named Warrnambool Citizen of the Year, Deputy Convener of the Warrnambool Community Garden and founder of Fruit Rescue Courtney Mathew was named Young Citizen of the Year, Warrnambool theatre stalwart Ailiche Goddard-Clegg was the recipient of the Local Achiever Award and the F Project's Fabric of Life Festival was the Community Event of the Year.
