2025 Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarships Open Today

Tasmanian Government

Applications for the 2025 Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarships are now open.

Applications open from 30 November 2024 and close on 21 February 2025.

Minister for Health and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Jacquie Petrusma, said that these scholarships seek to address underrepresentation of Tasmanian Aboriginal people working in Tasmania's health system.

"The Tasmanian Government is proud to support this important pathway for Tasmanian Aboriginal students to begin their career," Minister Petrusma said.

"Respected Aboriginal Elder, Aunty Ida West OAM, passed away in 2003, leaving an incredible legacy.

"These scholarships are a celebration of the life of Aunty Ida, and an enduring tribute to the lasting impact of her work.

"I encourage all eligible Tasmanians to please apply.

"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is investing in a better health system for all Tasmanians."

Scholarships are awarded to a maximum value of $5,000 per student per year of study. Each student may receive up to a total maximum value of $15,000 over three years of study.
