Volunteering WA is delighted to announce that 233 volunteer-involving organisations will share in over $338,000 through this year's National Volunteer Week Grants, thanks to Lotterywest support. The grants will support meaningful celebrations and recognition of volunteers across the state.
This year's grant recipients span from the Kimberley to the Great Southern, ensuring organisations from every region of Western Australia have the opportunity to recognise their volunteers this May.
Funded events will be held during National Volunteer Week (19 – 25 May 2025), including:
- A beachside event for Parks and Wildlife volunteers
- A family movie night for the Apex Club of Geraldton volunteers
- A storytelling session for City of Kwinana volunteers
- A breakfast for Gelorup Bushfire Brigade volunteers
Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams said Lotterywest's support is crucial for ensuring Western Australian volunteers continue their vital work in our communities, supporting every industry in the state.
"WA's volunteers play an essential role in building stronger, connected communities. The National Volunteer Week Grants are a great way to celebrate and acknowledge the tireless efforts of volunteers across the state. These events will bring people together, strengthen WA's volunteering sector, and encourage others to give a helping hand," said Tina.
Lotterywest CEO Colin Smith said Lotterywest is proud to support Volunteering WA to recognise and celebrate WA's volunteering sector.
"Volunteers raise community connection and participation to create a strong sense of belonging, and it's wonderful to support Volunteering WA to celebrate and acknowledge them," Mr Smith said.
"Volunteers are vital to thriving communities, and recognising exceptional volunteers is something Lotterywest fully supports."
Volunteering WA is grateful for Lotterywest's continued support of volunteering in WA, allowing us to celebrate, recognise and raise awareness of volunteering as part of National Volunteer Week celebrations. In 2025, Lotterywest's support enables our peak body to:
- distribute over $338,000 direct to 233 not-for-profit organisations to host National Volunteer Week events and activities;
- deliver a state-wide WA Volunteer of the Year Awards program;
- provide travel and accommodation support to regional and rural Award Finalists; and
- share some of WA's 1.5 million volunteering stories through advertising and community awareness campaigns.
