2025 Seniors Recognition Award Honours Outstanding Contributions to the Bland Shire Community
The annual Seniors Recognition Award ceremony was held at the West Wyalong Sports Club during the Seniors Lunch event, attended by 120 senior residents. The event was filled with laughter and unity, with entertainment provided by Jamie Agius, as the community gathered to celebrate and recognise the invaluable contributions made by individuals within the Bland Shire's senior community.
Deputy Mayor, Cr Lisa Minogue, was pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Seniors Recognition Award. This year, two outstanding citizens were recognised for their unwavering commitment to supporting the senior residents of the Bland Shire: Rosemary Adler and Vicki Barber.
Rosemary Adler has been a pillar of support for the elderly residents of the Presbyterian Aged Care Units in West Wyalong for many years. Through her volunteer efforts, she has dedicated countless hours ensuring that residents have safe, comfortable housing, helping them with paperwork, and making the adjustment process easier for both the residents and their families. Rosemary's selfless contributions have significantly impacted the lives of those living in the aged care units, and her dedication continues to be deeply appreciated by the senior community.
Vicki Barber, known for her remarkable rapport with the seniors of the Bland Shire, has made an exceptional impact through her leadership of the Mornings, Melodies, and Memories Program in the outlying Bland Shire villages for over two years. Vicki's ability to connect with participants, bringing joy and comfort with her empathetic approach, has been instrumental in fostering a strong sense of community among the senior citizens. Additionally, her role in overseeing the Wednesday Activity Group, where she challenges participants with weekly cognitive and physical activities, has contributed to their well-being and overall quality of life.
Both Rosemary and Vicki have demonstrated extraordinary care, compassion, and dedication to the senior citizens of the Bland Shire. Their efforts embody the spirit of community, and their contributions have greatly enriched the lives of many in the region.
"The 2025 Seniors Recognition Award is an opportunity to acknowledge the remarkable individuals who devote their time and energy to enhancing the lives of others. Rosemary and Vicki are two such people, and we are proud to honour their contributions to our community," said Cr Lisa Minogue.
The Bland Shire community extends its heartfelt thanks to both Rosemary and Vicki for their outstanding service and commitment. They are truly deserving of this recognition, and their continued dedication inspires others to make a positive impact within the community.
