$250,000 Reward For 2022 Broome Sex Assault

A $250,000 reward has now been approved by State Government for information regarding the sexual assault of a 31 year old woman in the dunes of Cable Beach, Broome in 2022.

The woman was attending a 'bush-doof' event at Cable Beach in the early hours of 29 May 2022, when she left the main crowd of around 200 people and ventured into the nearby sand dunes between 4.30am and 5am.

There she was approached by an unknown man, who struck her to the head multiple times before sexually assaulting her. She sustained serious facial injuries as a result of the assault.

Special Crime Squad detectives are continuing their investigation into this incident and hope that this significant reward will encourage someone with information to come forward. "This was a random and vicious attack on a young woman, and she continues to live with the aftermath of the incident every day," Special Crime Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Fowler said.

"Someone in the community knows something. This amount of money has the potential to change someone's life, and at the same time, help police and the victim get some much-needed answers."

The man is described as being dark skinned, with a slim build and between 170 to 177 cm tall.

The reward of $250,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.

Anyone who can assist is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or also report anonymously online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
