262 Charged in Operation Whiskey Legion's Logan Sweep

Launched on July 18, Operation Whiskey Legion has seen specialist police from the Highway Patrol, Crime and Intelligence Command, Rail Squad, Dog Squad, and Crime Prevention join forces with local police to target high-risk crime in Logan.

The additional officers have provided high police visibility, focusing on shopping precincts, train and transport hubs, and other hotspots across the district.

Operation Whiskey Legion is about ensuring the community is safe and feels safe.

The second deployment of the operation in the Logan District has seen a significant amount of police activity on the ground - not only resulting in high-risk offenders being arrested but extensive community engagement across the areas, including with victims of crime.

Specialist police units collaborated once again with local Logan officers to take action against the individuals causing the most harm in our community.

This saw saturation of police in areas like transport hubs, shopping centres and other public spaces, boosting the policing presence and enhancing community safety.

The Queensland Police Service is committed to ongoing Legion deployments to reduce crime across Queensland, and this operation will target high-impact crimes such as robberies, serious assaults and Domestic and Family Violence.

Logan District Acting Chief Superintendent Mark Thompson said police have seen a positive result from the operation and a disruption to crime in the district.

"We had a significant number of specialist police deployed to Logan to support our ongoing local efforts in targeting high-risk offenders, and we have seen good results.

"Since July 18, 238 adults have been arrested on 476 charges and 24 juveniles have been arrested on 47 charges.

"While this deployment to Logan is coming to an end, our community can expect to see high visibility policing with other localised operations continuing in our area."

Operation Whiskey Legion will continue with rolling deployments in areas across Queensland.
