Project description: This project will support the recovery of Bank Swallows (Riparia riparia) by developing artificial nesting habitats and instituting a Bank Swallow monitoring program within lands of conservation interest to Enoch Cree Nation (maskêkosihk), west of Edmonton, Alberta.

British Columbia

Project title: Habitat Protection and Connections for Western Toads and Northern Red-legged Frogs

Project description: This project will protect two amphibious species from threats of habitat fragmentation, road mortality, trampling, and pollution around Frederick Lake and Pachena Lake on Western Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Project description: This project will ensure the protection of land that houses critical habitats for Yellow-Breasted Chat and other species at risk on the ECOmmunity Place Locatee Lands in Penticton, British Columbia.

Project title: Grizzly Bear Conservation in the Kitselas First Nation Territory

Project description: This project will further develop an understanding of Grizzly Bears within the Kitselas territory to identify areas for restoration and/or interventions which may lead to additional Indigenous-led conservation efforts.

Project title: Conservation of Canada Warbler and Snapping Turtle Through Enhancement of Public Knowledge

Project description: This project will develop educational materials on two species at risk, the Snapping Turtle and the Canada Warbler, informed by Indigenous Knowledge and supported by traditional artwork for distribution to First Nation communities along Wolastoq (Saint John River) in New Brunswick.

Project title: A Community-Based Multi-Partner Approach to Protecting Species at Risk within Northeastern New Brunswick, using Indigenous Knowledge and Science

Project title: Acoustic Monitoring of Bat Species in Central Newfoundland

Project description: This project will conduct acoustic monitoring to detect two endangered bat species (the Little Brown and the Northern Myotis) in two priority areas identified by the North American Bat Monitoring Program and engage Qalipu Mi'maq First Nation members in the conservation and recovery of bats through outreach and survey participation in Central Newfoundland.

Project description: This project will address outstanding recovery actions for Black Ash in Nova Scotia, with a focus on conservation of existing stands through the identification and assessment of Black Ash habitats, threats from the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, and collection of seed for long-term storage and alternative species use by Mi'kmaw people.

Project title: Habitat Restoration and Habitat Protection Planning on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation
