Devonport City Council Tasmania

Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman congratulated the newly crowned Diamonds of Devonport, acknowledging the quality of this year's recipients, as a reflection of the depth of talent and contribution of women within the Devonport municipality.

In its 12th year, Cr Jarman said the calibre of recipients was a clear indication that Devonport is home to some amazing women, who contribute significantly to the city's fabric, through business, personal achievement, and community contribution.

"Congratulations to the Diamonds of Devonport for 2023. How fortunate we are to have such determined, driven, and community-minded women in our great city," Cr Jarman said.

"The diversity of the nominees and the contribution they have each made in their respective fields and endeavours, inspires each of us to strive to achieve our goals, and contribute to the betterment of our community, family, workplaces and social networks."

"Recognising these wonderful women, on a day as significant as International Women's Day, sends an important message to the recipients that they are recognised, appreciated and inspiring to others", Cr Jarman said.

This year's Diamonds of Devonport Ambassador Annette Rockliff, who is also the event's patron, highlighted the importance of recognising and celebrating the women of Devonport in such a public way, showcasing their talent, hard work and dedication.

Mrs Rockliff said being this year's ambassador was a lovely way to be acknowledged and reflected on the establishment of Diamonds of Devonport as a meaningful way to honour and acknowledge the significant contribution of women in the local community.

"Diamonds of Devonport is a great way for women to be publicly acknowledged for the work that they do and the support that they give, which can often go unnoticed. This event is the perfect way to show these recipients that we see you and we thank you."
