More housing opportunities are available for Tasmanians in need with the delivery of 29 new social housing units in Hobart's North.
21 of the units are one-bedroom and will be used to house applicants aged 55+ on the Housing Register, with the remaining eight two-bedroom units being allocated to younger Tasmanians.
Minister for Housing and Planning, Felix Ellis said the security of a home can be the stepping stone needed to plant roots and move forward into the next stages of life.
"The Letitia Street units are a great example of delivering infill, medium density housing where people want to live, on well-located land near essential services," Minister Ellis said.
"Under this Liberal Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are delivering on our target of 10 000 additional social and affordable homes by 2032.
"As of the end of June, this Government has delivered a total of 3 620 social and affordable homes towards this target, with hundreds more in the pipeline," he said.
The Tasmanian Government contributed over $7 million in funding to the development under the first round of the Community Housing Grant Program (CHGP), with the completion of this development highlighting the success of the first round of the CHGP.
Overall, the CHGP will provide $165 million to deliver 1100 new social housing properties statewide by the end of 2025, in partnership with the community housing sector.
